Jonathan G. Hobbs, M.D., M.S., is a board-certified neurosurgeon specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of spinal conditions. His practice focuses on helping patients find relief from back, neck, and spine disorders through individualized treatment plans designed to restore function, reduce pain, and improve quality of life. Dr. Hobbs is committed to delivering compassionate, patient-centered care while utilizing the latest advancements in spine surgery and neurosurgical treatment.

Dr. Hobbs joined Lakeshore Bone & Joint Institute to provide specialized care for patients with complex spinal conditions, including spinal deformities and tumors. He believes that every patient deserves a thorough evaluation and personalized treatment plan, and he works closely with each individual to ensure they understand their diagnosis and available treatment options.

Dr. Hobbs earned both his Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science degrees from the University of Kentucky in Lexington, Kentucky. He then received his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Kentucky College of Medicine.

After medical school, Dr. Hobbs completed a neurological surgery internship at The University of Chicago. He remained at the institution to complete his neurological surgery residency and served as chief resident during his final year of training. During the last two years of residency, he also earned a Master of Science degree in Public Health Sciences from The University of Chicago.

Dr. Hobbs is board-certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery and is an active member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, Congress of Neurological Surgeons, and North American Spine Society. In addition, he serves as a reviewer for several leading medical publications, including Spine, The Spine Journal, The American Journal of Sports Medicine, and the Journal of Neurotrauma.

Dr. Hobbs is dedicated to providing exceptional spine care through education, communication, and individualized treatment plans that help patients achieve the best possible outcomes while improving their overall quality of life.

Outside of his practice, Dr. Hobbs remains actively involved in academic research and professional education within the field of neurosurgery and spine care.

Dr. Hobbs sees patients at Lakeshore Bone & Joint Institute’s Chesterton, Crown Point, and Portage locations.
