Tyler C. Miller, M.D., is a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in hand, wrist, and upper extremity care, including arthroscopy, orthopedic trauma, and sports medicine.
Dr. Miller provides specialized surgical and nonsurgical care for conditions affecting the hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder. A native of Valparaiso, he is proud to care for patients in and around the community where he grew up.
His practice focuses on helping patients reduce pain, regain function, and return to daily activities through evidence-based treatment, clear communication, and care plans tailored to each patient’s needs.
As a fellowship-trained hand and upper extremity surgeon, Dr. Miller treats a wide range of conditions from the shoulder to the fingertips, including fractures, tendon injuries, nerve disorders, arthritis, sports injuries, and orthopedic trauma. He works closely with each patient throughout the decision-making process to help them understand their condition, compare treatment options, and move forward with confidence.

Dr. Miller earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Montana in Missoula, Montana. He then completed a tumor immunology research fellowship at the National Cancer Institute in Bethesda, Maryland, where he studied the biology and immunology of cancer. His time in clinical research helped shape his appreciation for evidence-based medicine and continual improvement in patient care.
Dr. Miller received his Doctor of Medicine degree from Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis, Indiana. He completed his orthopedic surgery internship and residency at The State University of New York at Buffalo. During residency, he trained in all aspects of musculoskeletal care, including complex fracture care at a level one trauma center, athletic injuries alongside physicians for professional sports teams, and pediatric orthopedic injuries.
Dr. Miller completed his fellowship training in hand and microvascular surgery at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, Illinois. His fellowship training involved working with nationally recognized surgeons and gaining advanced experience in treating conditions affecting the upper extremities.
Dr. Miller is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American Society for Surgery of the Hand.
