About Hassan Usmanil | D.P.M

Hassan Usmani, D.P.M., is a double board-certified surgical podiatrist specializing in the nonsurgical and surgical treatment of foot and ankle conditions. He joined Lakeshore Bone & Joint Institute in 2021 and provides specialized care for patients with injuries, arthritis, deformities, fractures, sports-related conditions, and complex foot and ankle concerns.

Dr. Usmani’s care philosophy is rooted in patient education, working closely with each patient to help them understand their diagnosis, treatment options, and recovery goals. Whenever possible, he begins with conservative, nonsurgical treatment. When surgery is necessary, he uses his training and experience in advanced foot and ankle procedures to help patients relieve pain, restore function, and get back on their feet.

A native of Houston, Texas, Dr. Usmani has been practicing in Northwest Indiana since 2018 and is proud to call the region home. He earned his undergraduate degree from Texas A&M University before receiving his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree from Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine. He completed his podiatric medicine and surgery residency at New York-Presbyterian Queens.

Dr. Usmani is board-certified in foot surgery and reconstructive rearfoot and ankle surgery by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery.

He practices evidence-based medicine and remains actively engaged in the latest advancements in foot and ankle care, including presenting research and scientific discussions nationally to his peers.

As a team physician for several local high schools and universities, Dr. Usmani works with athletes, athletic trainers, coaches, and families to help support safe recovery and return to activity after foot and ankle injuries.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Usmani enjoys spending time with his wife, their child, and their three rescue dogs.

Dr. Usmani sees patients at Lakeshore Bone & Joint Institute’s Chesterton, Portage, and Michigan City locations.
