Lakeshore Bone & Joint Institute Celebrates Grand Opening of Michigan City Walk-In Clinic

New service creates a more direct path from same-day injury evaluation to specialized orthopedic treatment and recovery

Lakeshore Bone & Joint Institute, a leading orthopedic practice in Indiana, is proud to celebrate the grand opening of its Michigan City walk-in clinic, marking a new chapter in the practice’s commitment to providing timely, specialized orthopedic care throughout the region.

The grand opening recognizes the addition of same-day orthopedic injury care to LBJI’s established Michigan City location. Patients can now visit the clinic without an appointment for evaluation of sprains, strains, suspected fractures, sports injuries, sudden joint pain, and other acute conditions affecting the bones, joints, and muscles.

“Our goal is to make it easier for patients to know where to turn when an orthopedic injury occurs,” said Neel P. Jain, M.D., a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon at Lakeshore Bone & Joint Institute. “By offering walk-in care within an orthopedic practice, we can evaluate the immediate concern while also helping patients understand what treatment, follow-up, or rehabilitation may be needed next.”

Unlike a general walk-in clinic, the Michigan City location connects patients to LBJI’s broader orthopedic care network. When an injury requires additional treatment, patients can transition to an appropriate orthopedic physician, imaging, physical therapy, or other specialized services within the practice.

This continuity is especially important for injuries that may require monitoring after the initial visit. Instead of navigating separate providers for evaluation, treatment, and recovery, patients can remain connected to a coordinated orthopedic team.

The Michigan City clinic also strengthens access to specialized care for patients in LaPorte County and surrounding communities. Its location allows more patients to receive timely orthopedic evaluations closer to where they live, work, and participate in sports and other activities.

“The grand opening is about more than adding another service,” said Thor Thordarson, MBA, RN, Chief Executive Officer of Lakeshore Bone & Joint Institute. “It represents our continued investment in Michigan City and our commitment to creating a more accessible, connected orthopedic experience. Patients can begin with same-day care and, when needed, continue through treatment and recovery with specialists they already know and trust.”

The LBJI Michigan City walk-in clinic is located at 3777 Frontage Road, Suite 900, Michigan City, IN 46360. Walk-in care is available Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. No appointment is required.
