About Thomas H. Kay | M.D.

Thomas H. Kay, M.D., is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in joint replacement surgery and the diagnosis and treatment of injuries and conditions affecting the elbow, shoulder, hip, knee, hand, wrist, ankle, and lower extremities.

Dr. Kay joined Lakeshore Bone & Joint Institute in 1994 and has extensive experience treating a wide range of orthopedic conditions, including shoulder arthritis, bursitis, joint pain, and orthopedic trauma. His practice focuses on providing specialized, patient-centered care to help patients reduce pain, restore function, and return to their previous activity level.

He received his Doctor of Medicine degree from The University of Illinois College of Medicine in Chicago, Illinois, where he also completed his general surgery internship and orthopedic surgery residency.

Dr. Kay is board-certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. He is a member of several professional associations, including the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the American Medical Association, the Indiana Orthopaedic Society, the Indiana State Medical Association, the Mid-America Orthopaedic Association, and the Porter County Medical Society.

As the team physician for Portage High School, Dr. Kay works closely with athletic trainers and physical therapists to help provide safe, effective orthopedic care for student athletes.

Dr. Kay sees patients at Lakeshore Bone & Joint Institute’s Chesterton and Portage locations.
